The
passion and pride which the lads have in their homeland is evident in
every note on the new album. The first track, Battle Dawn, is a
haunting lament with bagpipes and drums. The title track of the
album, The Land We Love, was written as a poem by W H Ogilvie and put
to music spectacularly by Scocha.
A surprise track is Hot
Asphalt, an Irish song which is full of energy and impossible not to
tap your foot to!!
There are also two
Selkirk songs on the album, Carterhaugh Ba' and Philipha' both of
which have a fascinating story of Selkirk's past to tell. Iain
Scott has also written the moving song, Scotia's Child, which
encapsulates exactly of what it means to be Scottish.
This
is the first album from Scocha, filled with fantastic Border Ballads and
rousing reiver songs from the Border Lands. Listen to the sample tracks
to get a feel of this outstanding first album!
If you purchase

Love
Bordering on
we'll send you the CD single 'The Borders' as well!

Written
especially for the team by Scocha, the song is fast becoming an integral
feature at home games. The CD features 3 versions of the Borders song, along with one of
their most requested songs, a haunting rendition of ‘Wild Mountain
Thyme’.
One
version of the Borders song features the crowd singing along. The brave supporters stayed behind a game in freezing conditions
to belt it out for The Borders! The result is a rousing song, made even better by the commentary
of Stuart McCulloch.
The
most surprising track on the disc is a dance remix of ‘The Borders’
by Kirk Turnbull of QFX.The strange combination of the talents of Scocha and Kirk came
about as the result of a challenge!Iain and David of Scocha are good friends of Kirk, and said that
he could never make one of their songs into a pop song…. They were
wrong!
The Keeper of Teviotdale is a work of fiction
that draws on local Border history within a plot that weaves a
gripping tale of past and present. Partly satirical and partly
historical the two main themes of the intertwining narrative combine
to a dramatic conclusion.

Brydon.

The satirical aspect of the novel highlights the
local character and sense of humour of border folk and highlights a
fictional local council as a prime focus. The historical chapters
which punctuate the novel, draw on real events as a foundation to
the overall plot.
Graham Ford, Hawick News
A dark but humorous look into Hawick's history. You will be
convinced you are reading about some 'weel kent faces' but the hazy
line between fact and fiction will have you intrigued throughout"
Ian Landles, Historian
“----- Alan Brydon puts his finger on the pulse of life in a border
valley past and present”
Fiona
Scott, Southern Reporter
Alan Brydon has a wicked sense of humour that can take a situation
like the troubles within a rural town council and make it funny.
There is page after page of intrigue peppered with a liberal amount
of local History which twist and wind their way through the chapters
before coming to a dramatic and unexpected conclusion. You step deep
in to a world of fierce honour and battle glory and come right back
up into 21st century politics and deception all credit to Brydon's
writing. This is a gripping read which will leave you laughing and
hungry for more at the same time, a rare quality.
